NURSING PRACTICE
(An attempt to explore the moral implications, responsibilities and values of the provision in section 28, article VI of RA 9173 which governs the practice of nursing in the Philippines - WN)
Introduction:
Like any member of the other professions, a professional nurse has many moral and legal responsibilities to assume in the practice of her/his profession. These responsibilities are entwined in every service she/he renders to a patient. It is of importance that she/he knows these responsibilities attached to the various phases of her/his professional practice so that she/he may be properly guided in the discharge of her/his functions. This session will focus more on the moral rather than legal responsibilities of a nurse. A nurse who knows her/his moral responsibilities will find it easier to avoid moral guilt. The session will start with the scope of nursing practice as provided in Section 28, Article VI RA 9173 then explore its underlying moral values and responsibilities.
