MODELS OF COMMITMENT
Commitment is an act where a man or a woman is giving himself or herself to another person or to some human activity or project. Such a sphere of human life is not normally considered pious or religious and yet there is a dimension to the experience of commitment which is profoundly religious.
Who do you think in history has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication? Why?
1. In history I think our national hero Jose Rizal leave a life of true service, commitment, and dedication because he didn't give up defending his own country eventhough it was a very difficult situations at those times. Even if he knew what will be the consequences of his action but still he is very comitted in defending our country. He bravely wrote things against the colonizers. He doesn't only think of himself but also to the other Filipinos... (QJT)
2. i believe Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ lived her life with the true service by following God's command and dedicating herself in molding Jesus to be our savior... (1430) 3. I consider also my mother as a model of commitment in our family because she does everything for us and for making us, her children to be the top of her priority. Though she has her own needs too but still she forgoes it just to meet our needs. She is really more than a mother and does her responsibility more than an obligation. That's why we are so blessed and be thankful for us parents... (zhy) 4. For me, the best model of commitment is Jesus Christ Himself. We all know how He lived His life on earth, and on how He accepted His death for our salvation's sake. Because of His unconditional love for us, He dedicated His life on teaching the people Christian values for us to live with. And as Jesus as our model, we should always remember His sacrifices and as well as His teachings... (yuzuyu) 5. In our history, I believe that Nonoy Aquino has become truly a model of commitment because he helped the Filipinos be liberated from the hands of a dictator in our contemporary times. He taught every Filipino how to become a real Filipino to your own country, he taught us how to love a country. He taught us to fight, serve and be a deserving citizen for this country... (Kenji) 6. In history,I consider Mahatma Gandhi has lived a life of true service and commitment and dedication because he help to freed India from foreign dictators, help the people to ease poverty, fight for their civil rights and help his nation to gain their independence. In addition, Gandhi is a man who fought not using force or violence. He believes in peaceful battle. He is a loving person and always forgives hose people who hurt him even those people want him to die... (zhy) 7. For me, I think the person who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication is Jose Rizal. He was a true patriot. He put his heart into what he was doing and he did everything for the common good. Even though many disapproved of his work, he didn't stop. He was very committed and dedicated to his work. Nothing stopped him from doing something good for his fellow men... (martina18) 8. i think, the person who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication is Ninoy Aquino because he died fighting for the Filipino people to liberate us from the dictatorship. He knew that his life is at stake, he pursued and chose to fight for what is right because he is truly committed to his work and countrymen... (avergne) 9. For me,the person who lived a life of true service is Mother Teresa because she gave her life to the poor, especially those people with leprosy. She also founded missionaries of charity which is now located in different countries... (Coke26) 10. In my opinion Mother theresa is the committed person. She dedicated all her life to serve the people. She doesnt chose people whom she served. She has the "calling" to help the poor people and she did not expect anything from the people she helped. She placed her heart completely to help the others... (IVF) 11. For me, Mother Candida Maria de Jesus, our school foundress (Stella Maris Academy of Davao) dedicated herself in the education of the poor. She opened schools for children and adolescents from all social backgrounds, Sunday schools for girls employed as domestics, and involved the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus (Hijas de Jesus) in the church's pastoral plan of her time. Indeed the universalism of her charisma continues to be a commitment worth considering, a precursor of what we call “social justice” today. She responded to God’s calling as if it was her whole life. She is indeed an instrument for us to listen and to respond to God’s mission for us all... (Unknown) 12. JESUS CHRIST himself has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication... He was of service not only to His father (God's Plan) but also towards His people...true service is not just being a ruler, a master...it is being a SERVANT...with His commitment and dedication towards serving His father and His people He was selfless in offering His own life, allowing Himself to be crucified in the cross in order to save humanity from sins...sins that He himself wasn't able to commit...but He never ran from it instead He accepted the plan of His father wholeheartedly and never hesitated to sacrifice and offer His life for all... (webster) 13. For me, the late Michael Jackson has lived a life of service and dedication. He has extended help to poor countries where there are many sick children. He also gave concern to the black people who are continually discriminated by many... (LION) 14. Mayor Tukaw Mastura, City mayor of Sultan Kudarat Maguindanao. Because he serves the people of sultan kudarat without expecting anything in return. He made our city peaceful and less chaotic. He valued the people and gave them due respect. (IMBA) 15. Florence Nightingale who came to be known as "The Lady with the Lamp", was a pioneering English nurse, writer and noted statistician. She was born into a rich, upper-class, well-connected British family however, she abandoned her family and chose to care for the people in poverty. She made a great part during Crimean War wherein she has volunteered herself to provide comfort and care for the injured soldiers of the war. she advocated sanitary living conditions as of great importance in faster recovery of a patient. she had lived in a very simple but meaningful life. therefore, i can say that she is really committed and devoted person... (Michelle M. Banaag) 16. That person would definitely be our national hero, Jose Rizal. As we all know, Jose Rizal had dedicated his life for the Philippines. He was brave enough to reveal the true colors of the Spaniards even though he knew it would cost him his life. He fought for our freedom. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be here today... (Viray) 17. A Missionary, a Saint, a person of integrity and selflessness, MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA, I think has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication. Mother Teresa came from a well-off family in Macedonia. However after feeling strongly the call of God at the age of twelve, she decided to leave her family and enter the missionary. This I believe is already an act of self-forgetfulness since she was able to give up her good life in order to answer a transcendental call. After staying for eight years in an Irish community of nuns, Mother Teresa decided to leave the convent and devote herself to working among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. Although she had no funds, she depended on Divine Providence, and started an open-air school for slum children. This deed of her only shows the unconditional character of commitment, the dedication of oneself to something no matter what happens, whatever it might cause her, even if she will suffer. The religious aspect could also be seen since because of her “dependence on Divine Providence”. Mother Teresa then continued to spread the love of Christ by serving the poor. She even started her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity", whose primary task was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. Her life had been an example of a life lived in the real meaning of commitment, a life not many was able to live... (THE LITTLE PRINCE) 18. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (Abdallah ibn Abi Quhafa) has lived his life of true service, commitment and dedication because he was a firm and his belief and was a true believer during the time of Prophet Muhammad (saw). Even he was beaten until he lost his consciousness, he is still firm in his belief. During his time, he purchased the freedom of a four women slave and four men slave, most of the slaves are old men and women. He was asked by his father, why doesn't he liberate strong and young ones who could be a useful to him. He replied, he was freeing the slaves to the sake of God, not for his own sake... (Marshall Teach) 19. For me, it's the late Benigno Aquino who lived a life of true service , commitment and dedication. For the reason that he was the one who awaken the minds of all filipinos to fight for our rights and to fight the injustices of our government during the presidential of Ferdinand Marcos. He even face death courageously just to free us from the chaotic government of former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos... (Anonymous) |

20. As a proud Filipino, I considered Dr. Jose Rizal as the man who live a life of true service, commitment, and dedication. I considered him because without him we are still being colonized by the other country. He live a life with a true dedication. He fight for the independence of his countrymen in a form of his writings that awakens the mind of our fellow country men. Even though he was being banned and put to jail because of his writing regarding the Spanish colonizers. Rizal still continues to write and he is not afraid that this will lead him to death because on what he truly believes in is that our country must have independence and unchained ourselves by these colonizers... (red)
21. Personally, the person whom i think has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication is JESUS CHRIST. It is for the reason that he has sacrificed his precious life for the commitment he made with God and his dedication to Christianity. He didn't do all these stuff for a show-off thing nor to gain fame but he did it for all of us because he loved us so dearly. He did all that for a clear purpose and AUTHENTIC intentions... (Ncracker) 22. for me... i would go for the persom who have live his life to the fullest and almost perfect. should i say PERFECTLY RIGHT. YES, JESUS CHRIST himself, all through his living years have gone way too far in committing himself to all of us. HE IS A TRUE SERVANT AND MODEL, for three major reasons: -He used his time in teaching and preaching the words of God. - He sacrificed himself for the salvation of our sins -Lastly, he is a major impact in our lives for we continuously change for the better and trying our best to live a righteous life that was exemplified by JESUS CHRIST himself... (kolgs) 23. I go for someone who has had direct impact in the lives of the Filipino people. I believe that our former president Corazon Aquino has exemplified a genuine commitment and dedication to our country. A widow with 5 children to raise on her own, an extremely delicate woman bombarded with life threats, and a novice in the world of politics, Mrs. Corazon Aquino managed to preside over our country well amidst the chaos during the Marcos’ era. Furthermore, even until now, she has shown an indisputable concern through her active participation in movement against issues that threaten our country... (kimmy) 24. For me, it would be Mother Teresa. She became a nun although she came from a well-off family. She gave up the life in the monastery to help those who are poor, the sick and the uneducated. Even if she has no funds, few manpower was available, and a lot of ethical issues were involved(since some of the poor people thought that it was her way in converting them to Christianity) she still put all her faith to God and was fully committed to God's Calling of helping the poor. And all of those efforts were paid off, it took years, yet her order was recognized around the world "The Missionaries of Charity", in which she became an inspiration to the people... (BK201) 25. I believe that Mother Teresa has lived a life of true service, commitment, and dedication. For over 45 years she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding the Missionaries of Charity's expansion, first throughout India and then in other countries. She was also recognized by many individuals and government officials, and traveled in different places for her "selfless caring."(pretty_boy) 26. I consider Jose Rizal as a person who lived a life full of service, commitment and dedication. Jose Rizal devoted his life to the filipino people. he wanted to reform the spanish rule and help the opressed filipinos. he wanted us to be treated fairly by the spaniards. he made several literary works to unite us and awaken our nationality to fight for our rights. everything he did he did it for the philppines until death he was still thinking on how to help the filipinos. so for me jose rizal is really committed because he actually put his ideas into actions and did something to help his country men... (z0diax3) 27. For me, St. Francis of Assisi has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication.Francis enjoyed a very rich easy life growing up because of his father's wealth and the permissiveness of the times. As he grew up, Francis became the leader of a crowd of young people who spent their nights in wild parties. Francis himself said, "I lived in sin" during that timeBut Francis never got farther than one day's ride from Assisi. There he had a dream in which God told him he had it all wrong and told him to return home. And return home he did. What must it have been like to return without ever making it to battle - the boy who wanted nothing more than to be liked was humiliated, laughed at, called a coward by the village and raged at by his father for the money wasted on armor. His search for conversion led him to the ancient church at San Damiano. While he was praying there, he heard Christ on the crucifix speak to him, "Francis, repair my church."Soon Francis started to preach. Francis was not a reformer; he preached about returning to God and obedience to the Church. Slowly companions came to Francis, people who wanted to follow his life of sleeping in the open, begging for garbage to eat...and loving God. The story of St. Francis showed true obedience and commitment to God's commandments. He has everything in life but he choses to follow God's word. It only shows that material things that does suffice everything in life. We need God to have true happiness and contentment... (Nature's Spring) 28. In considering the subject of commitment and dedication, I have thought of the many great characters in the Bible, the dedicated Saints in the early days of the Church—all valiant and courageous people who were committed to great and noble causes. But then, the only being who is the most powerful that sent here on earth to live a life of true service, commitment and dedicated was our savior Jesus Christ. Indeed, the only way for us to be saved is for someone else to rescue us. We need someone who can satisfy the demands of justice, standing in our place to hold for our sins. Hence, Jesus Christ has always been the only one capable of making such a sacrifice. Through his atoning sacrificed he gave his life to the cross to save the sins of all mankind... ( "D' secret") 29. I can say that MOther Francisca del Espiritu Santo whom I can strongly consider as a person who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication. I am from a Dominican school and have studied the life of Mother Francisa. She was known to have a good life and a widow. After the death of her husband, shecdedicated her time to prayer and social service helping many poor and sick in the city. Actually she is a Filipina born in Manila. She had a vision od St. Francis of Assisi and St, Dominic, and was called for a service in humanity. She chose to follow St. Dominic and later on was ordained as a nun. As far as I can remember, her time was also the time where nuns doesn't have the privilege to go out of the convent and serve the people. The leaders in the religious society is so strict that they should have to stay in the convent because they are women. Mother Francisca envisioned to have hr congregation be established where there will be a group of sisters who, under her supervision be active in the society in helping the marginalized and secluded. The Archbishop was against of it, but even then, she did not stop fighting for it. There were many trials and instances that she lost hope but she stood up for it. Exhausted and ill due to a physical wornout of acts of mortification, MOther Francisca died, but her works and memories are still there. When she is still living in the Beaterio,a place where a congregation of sisters under her foundation, she is giving the poor food and helping those who are in need. She also practiced the virtue of charity and compassion, determination, persistence and decisiveness, trust in God, piety and love of prayer, devotion to the Eucharist and of the Virgin Mary...(boonjee09) 30. For me, it would be definitely Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of true commitment and selflessness. He was committed to His father, to the people, anf especially to those who are suffering. He is the perfect altruist. We can also see in Christ what the POP is trying to illustrate. Even Gandhi, a Hindu, admired Christ. He said Christ is so great but unfortunately, Christians aren't. My admiration to Christ got even stronger when I saw the movie, The Passion of Christ. Almost everything we need to know, especially about commitment is presented there... (fornicaras) 31. For me, Mother Teresa of Calcutta lived a life of true service, dedication and commitment. For over 45 years, she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying not just in India but also in other countries. Despite her good intentions, many people criticized her and tried to destroy what she had started. However, she was very brave and didn't stop her voluntary services to those people who are in dire need. During times of war, she responded to the wounded soldiers and helped their respective families deal with their situation. She continued to help and never chose on who she should only help. She was very committed to her work in offering herself to people who are unwanted, unloved, and uncared for throughout the society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone. In addition, she built the Missionaries of Charity that greatly helped people in India and in other countries which continued her good works even after her death. Nowadays, the Missionaries of Charity are governed by the people who followed Mother Teresa's belief. Even though she is already with the hands of God, the product of her true commitment, service and devotion continues to live... (sakura) 32. (kira) 34. it would be Mother Theresa. She had dedicated her life rendering service to the poor, and committed her life to her work. She really fought for them, and encouraged people who can help others to extend their hands to give help to the ones in need... (chuckie) 35. the person who lived his life with service and commitment is Ninoy Aquino. well, first of all because it is rare to see a politician who is true in his service for his fellow country men. he fought for the rights of the filipino against the tyranny of the marcos regime. it is truely brave of him even though he knew the consequences of his actions. he was tortured, put into arrest, and even exiled just to put him into silence but still he came back to his homeland to continue his battle. he died fighting for his belief, and because of his death, the whole filino nation woke up and fought for their rights. his death was not a waste, and definitely not to be forgotten... (fredo) 36. I will choose Father Jose Burgos. He is one Gomburza trio who were falsely accused of mutiny by the Spanish. They fight their rights to save their “kapwa Pilipino” but they failed because they are under in colonization of Spaniards. They are the one control the government rules. He debates over the rights of native priests had extended to include questions of race and nationalism. He commits doing to make his fellowmen to awake for the rules that is not good for them to colonize. His death dedicated to make the country being free from the Spaniards and to live the country with full of memories of our national heroes fight the right decision... (George) 37. For me it's Lapu-lapu.Ü He is surely committed to his people. He fought with the Spaniards even though they have guns and everything. He was determined to protect his people with only a sword in hand and a heart of courage. Lapu-lapu lead his people to victory by killing the conqueror Ferdinand Magellan. Lapu-lapu's bravery and victory made a great impact both in the hearts of the Filipinos and the Spaniards. The risk of protecting even if it meant of losing your life is true commitment. Just this time, our hero lived... (ESTROGEN) 38. For me it's Ninoy Aquino because he dedicate himself to the Filipino and he commits himself for the betterment/freedom of the country... (Vandyc) 40. For me, its Jesus Christ for the reason He was born for us to be saved in accordance to the will of God. And the fact that he obeyed God's will for our sake. He knew He was going to die but still He did everything for us... (eagleboy) 41. I think Benigno Aquino, Sr. is a very good example of someone who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication. The sacrifices he made for our country cannot be surpassed. He was an honest man. I admire him for being a real journalist and a real politician. He firmly believed that Filipinos are worth dying for and his commitment at that paved way for our freedom from the Marcos regime. We were a second chance and it continues until this day... 42. For me, it is Mother Theresa who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication. All throughout her life, she ministered the poor, the sick and the dying. Though she won the Nobel Peace Prize, she remained humble and continued rendering her services to the unfortunates. Giving them hope and faith and inspiring them to help others... (awesome_20)
43. I think the person who has lived a life of true service, commitment, and dedication was Dr. Jose Rizal. It is because he had served his fellow Filipinos through his courageous acts without having anything in return and he had fought for his rights and of that of the Filipinos. He has been committed in doing things that he believed were right. He was also very dedicated to his country even though he knew that his life was at risk. Even though there were other people who have shown courage and has been very committed, Dr. Jose Rizal was on top of them all. No one forced him to do those things yet he was able to carry out those good deeds and because of that I regard as him as incomparable. There is no doubt of considering him as our National hero for he possessed the qualities of being one: committed, dedicated and true to his service... (chartreuse) 44. **I think, Ninoy Aquino was the one who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication because as we all know he was killed because of being honest,he tells what he want to say for the sake of all the filipino people. he fights for our right. He really serve the philippines truly and honesty. And he has a dedication on what he is doing... (xinderella) 45. I think the person who has lived this kind of life is Dr. Jose Rizal. If not because of his commitment for the Filipino people freedom will not be achieved. It was because of him that peoples eyes were opened from the injustices of the Spanish people. Because of his advocacies the people were able to understand the importance of education. He was a man of courage, a loving son and sibling, and friend to everyone. Despite his imperfections he was able to surpass everything. He did all this without asking for a reward. He was only thinking about the welfare f his mother nation and fellow countrymen. That is why for me he possesses all of this qualities... (Athlonian) 46. For me, it's Mother Theresa but I will go to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo since many had mentioned Mother Thereas. There is no perfect person and GMA I believed done such wrong moves in running our country. But what I saw was her passion to lead for the betterment of our country. She had done good things for our country. As a matter of fact there are many developments happened in our nation in her term as a president. She is still committed to serve and dedicated to her job against all the negative issues and things she is hearing about herself.I believe she is living a life of true service, commitment and dedication... (ATOT) 47. I think the person who has lived this kind of life is Dr. Jose Rizal. If not because of his commitment for the Filipino people freedom will not be achieved. For me, i think my Grandfather and Grandmother have lived a life of true service. As an extended family, my grandparents have sacrificed their lives to alleviate their seven children from poverty economically, socially and emotionally. And until now, they still have great care and responsibility not only to their children but as well as to us grand children. In their old age, they never cease to love, care and serve us. Another reason why I choose my grandparents because I also see in them their how passionate they are in serving God. That's the reason why almost all of the members of the family are committed in serving God by being active in the Church. and I guess this is a living testimony and proof of how committed, and dedicated my grandparents are.Ü (RAM) 49. It would be Pres. Ramon Magsaysay, because he was a man of deeds rather than words. (HUSH) 50. The very perfect example of someone who lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication is Jesus Christ. Personally, I believe that Jesus Christ possess all the qualities of being committed. He had served the people through spreading the Word of God, helping the needy, and giving hope through His miraculous acts to those who lived a life of misery because of their physical impediments. Christ was very dedicated in being of service to mankind. Though many had criticized Him, disgraced Him and even rejected Him, it did not hinder Him to do what what His Father tasked Him to do. When He sacrificed His own life to save mankind, it truly manifest His commitment since commitment will never take place in the absence of self-sacrifice. This act of commitment of Jesus Christ will never be forgotten and will always be part of every Christian's life for this act redeemed us from our sins... (psychedelic) 51. i think Mother Teresa is the one who has lived a life of true service, commitment and dedication. For one, she was an excellent nun, as a documentary i have watched said so. Because for me being a nun itself and staying in the convent is a commitment in itself, pure and simple. it showed her commitment and love for her God and that she was willing to give her life in His service. Mother Teresa did not just stop there, with her humongous faith for God, she expressed it not only through prayer and worship but to the service of the poor, the sick and the dying also. and despite hindrances, she maintained the dedication and faith to pursue what her God gave her as a task. Mother Teresa was the only living saint because that is what she is. mostly saints are regarded with granduer after they died but Mother Teresa was different because by her beliefs, works and deeds she , for me, is the epitome os God in a cruel society... (Therese Dale Balicaco) 52. For me,the most fit is our national hero Jose Rizal because he had dedicated his life for us to be able to help us in our lack of knowledge in the field of medicine. during that era our nation doesn't have the capacity to perform proper medical practices,Jose Rizal studied medicine and give free services to the poor who are most in need. Another thing that he had achieve is when he open the eyes of the filipinos about the abusive works of the spaniards, thru the newspaper he showed many filipino people the bad things that the spanish colony is doing to them...(JackintheBox) 53. For me, it's really Mother Theresa but since many had mentioned her, I'll go for Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. GMA is not a perfect person but I do believe that it does not disqualify her to be a woman who lived her life for true service, commitment and dedication. She had done a lot of things for our country. As a matter of fact, many developments happened during her term. She had also help uplift the life of some of our less fortunate people. She is dedicated in his work despite of all the negative things she is hearing from people and although some people impersonalizing her gave a negative impact to the Filipino people. She does'nt care because she cares about for a better Philippines... (ATOT) 54. It would be former Pres. Ramon Magsaysay, because he was a man of deeds rather than words. He has that greatest service, commitment, love, and dedication for us. He was able to live his life with the huge concern for his fellow people, incessantly helping the poor in our place. Papa for me made that history. Others don't know him, but if they'll do, I guess they'll be amazed:) God Bless my papa:) Lovish 58. I think Jesus Christ himself is the perfect person who has these three attributes. I consider him because I believe Jesus Christ lived in this world as a human right?:) And he lived his life to serve God which is a life of true service. He accepted his fate to sacrifice his own life for us to be saved because he wanted to serve God his father. and because of that, Jesus Christ is committed to his calling as the son of God and to serve him, committed to be the son of Mary and love her and finally committed to love us and gave up his life for us to be saved from our sins. Jesus Christ is also dedicated to his work of spreading the word of God to everyone which to love each other. He traveled many places and suffered many times but he did not gave up. That is why we did not forget him and stayed in us... (belladonna) 59. The person i could think that live a life of true service, commitment and dedication is no less than our national hero Jose Rizal. He sacrifice himself for the Filipino people. He forgotten that he has personal needs to fulfill, dreams to realized, and goals to accomplish. He could choose a better life, comfortably and happily living with his family, got married and have children but he forgo all of these because of his dedication to the people. He has this unconditional character:dedication no matter what happens. He uses his intelligence for the common good,he went to different countries to search for the truth and die in the hands of his enemies without given decent burial... (twister) |
